Day 6 - Week 15 - Hebrews 4:12 - "For the Word of God is living and effective, and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as to divide soul, spirit, joints and marrow; it is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12, "For the Word of God is living and effective and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as to divide the soul, spirit, joints and marrow; it is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart."

Penetrating as to divide the soul, spirit, joints and marrow...what is this phrase telling us about God's Word?  Robert P. Morgan includes in our textbook this explanation, "Some commentators believe this image is based on the knives the Levitical priests used to cut through the deepest sections of the sacrificial animals.  Wielded by our great high priest, God's Word penetrates to the depths of our hearts and souls.  No part of our personality is unaffected by Scripture as we hear and respond to it."

So coupling this verse with Romans 12:1 which says that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, we can see that as we submit ourselves to God, giving Him complete permission to cut away as needed in order to make us a holy and pleasing sacrifice, we can understand that it is His Word that becomes the carving tool utilized to make the necessary incisions, as deep as necessary, wherever necessary, down to the very marrow of our bones.

In John Darby's Synopsis of the New Testament, he says, "It is more penetrating than a two-edged sword. Living and energetic, it separates all that is most intimately linked together in our hearts and minds. Whenever nature-the "soul" and its feelings-mingles with that which is spiritual, it brings the edge of the sword of the living truth of God between the two, and judges the hidden movements of the heart respecting them."

God's Word divides within us what is of Him from that which is not of Him, the spiritual from the nonspiritual.  As we apply God's Word to our lives, we should see a continual shift in our lives away from worldliness toward godliness.

Is your life tracking in the right direction?  If not, maybe there is a greater need of not only study of the Word, but sincere dedication to application.  Prayers for all of us to make this our priority.

God is alive, and he Lives in every recesses of my body. Physical, psychological, mental, spiritually, physiologically, chemically and all energy that flows through me. Recently I learned more about God's Love and his Power and that He can heal me. Not just my broken spirit and heart, but my physical body. He lives in every cell of my body. I have learned recently just how much God loves me. I knew he loved me but I didn't know, really how much He loves me. I have asked God so many times for things, but recently I have asked Him to heal me, heal my physical body. He has led me to a place that I believe will help to restore my
health. It will not be overnight, but a daily walk with God.

I will only heal because of the magnificent power of God's Glory. He Rules my world. I have lifted my life up to God's magnificent Power and Glory in so manus ways that I exist here on earth. It is only because of my Lord and Savior can I live a life that praises God. God has come into me and entered all of me.

I am learning each that I need God's Love inside all of me.
