Still no wifi, so brief again tonight! Just wanted to regress a bit to recognize that we did not discuss the last phrase of last week's verse that is actually reflected again in this week's verse.
"...and by His stripes we are healed."
While I have heard this verse used as a claim to physical healing, I view it much more as our claim to total and absolute healing as children of God to be healthy for our eternal lives, which is where God wants us to have our focus anyway. Christ's stripes were a result of the lashing that He took at the hands of the Roman soldiers....but the result of that lashing, humiliation and ultimate crucifixion is our life...our eternal, wholly healthy life...restored to completeness to be the creatures God always intended us to be.
And then tonight... "the LORD has punished Him for the iniquity of us all."
There's not a one who this verse does not apply to! "We all..." is we all! You, me, our parents, our children.
Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe!"
A place to come and dwell on God's Word and let our hearts take in the wonderful message of His love for us. These words, hidden in our hearts, go with us wherever we go in this life...if we have Bibles in our hands, or if we are dependent upon memory of His wonderful words. Let us not take for granted the gift of God's Word...it is life, both now and forever after.

Day 1- Week 28 - Since I'm still out of town....
...we'll do a quick review and add our new verse and call it a night! I'm SO enjoying this trip and special time with Robert, Mary and Shorty, but I am missing in-depth time here with "you" and God's Word. It's impossible to get wifi in our particular area, so I'm stuck with iPhone capability, which requires more patience than I possess at day's end!
But let's see where we are tonight and where God us leading us for this next week! We will start this week's review with the six verses of the Gift of Scripture...ready?

The Gift of Scripture (6)
.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
Joshua 1:8 This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth, you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
Psalm 119:11 I have treasured Your words in my heart so that I may not sin against You.
Deuteronomy 6:4-6 Listen, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength. These words I am giving you today are to be in your heart.
Deuteronomy 6:7 Repeat them to your children, talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Hebrews 14:12 The Word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as to divide soul, spirit, joints and marrow. It is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart.
Then..
The Gift of Prayer (3)
Hebrews 4:16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.
1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence we have before Him, whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for.
And...
The Gift of Assurance (10)
1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life and that life is in His Son.
1 John 5:12-13 The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn't have the Son of God, does not have life. I say these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life.
John 14:1 Your heart must not be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in Me.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansion, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you unto Myself, so that where I am, you may be also.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or afraid.
Isaiah 26:3-4 You will keep in perfect peace the mind that is dependent on You, for it is trusting in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed . (KJV)
And our 28th verse follows our 27th...
Isaiah 53:6
We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the LORD has punished Him for the iniquity of us all.

Day 6 - Week 27 - Isaiah 53:5 "But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed."
The chastisement of our peace was upon Him.
Another translation says, "the punishment for our peace was on Him."
Punishment / Peace. They don't seem to go together, do they? But think again...do we not punish our children in order to rid their lives of trouble? Isn't the motive of our discipline so that they can ultimately find lives of peace and the ability to live civilly with those around them?
We require punishment to be at peace with God---for our bent is toward rebellion and selfishness. Christ came and took our punishment and by His life showed us the benefits of being at peace with our God. He shows us that we do not need to rebel against someone who loves us as much as our Heavenly Father loves His children.
Without Christ's life we could never fully understand God's love for us nor could we ever fully trust His care. Without Christ's death we could never be at peace with God, for our sinfulness would always create the tension between us and would never allow God to accept us in a less than holy condition.
WITH Christ ---we have been vindicated, absolved, and purified. We can now be at peace with our Creator. We can KNOW we are His and that we have been sealed for eternity.
We are enjoying some wonderful away time with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law! Writing via iPhone, so excuse any misspellings!
